Questions, answered

What plant, warehouse and field teams ask before a feasibility study: cameras, privacy, real time, accuracy and IT.

General

Do we need new cameras?

Usually not. Agnify works with the standard IP cameras you already have, over RTSP or your NVR. Where a view is missing, such as over an assembly station or a machine outfeed, we suggest one camera there. The feasibility study checks coverage, angles and resolution on the views you care about.

Where does our video go?

By default, to Agnify's cloud over outbound HTTPS; nothing inbound is opened in your firewall. Where an application needs real time, or video has to stay in the building, Agnify runs on a server on site instead.

How do you handle privacy and our workforce?

Reports are by machine, station, zone, role and shift, never by named person. There's no facial recognition or emotion inference, whole-person blur can be enabled for video outputs, and retention is kept short. We help you brief your teams and prepare works council or union materials where needed.

Can it work in real time?

Yes, for the applications that need it. Alerts the moment a machine stops, or checks that hold a unit at a station, run on a server on site next to the cameras. Dashboards and shift reports run in the cloud, where results arrive within minutes.

How do we know it's accurate on our site?

We measure it on your footage. The feasibility study and the pilot report results against counts and events your team checks by hand, before anything scales.

What does it take from our IT team?

Access to camera streams or an NVR export, and a network path out for cloud processing. A server on site if you need real time or video must stay in the building.

How does it connect to our systems?

Events, counts and alerts are available through webhooks and an API, so they can flow into your MES, WMS, BI or spreadsheets. Integrations are scoped per site.

Does it replace our safety systems?

No. Agnify signals and records. It isn't a certified safety system, a safety interlock or an emergency shutdown, and it doesn't replace machine guarding, barriers or training.

We already have an MES and machine data. Why cameras?

Machine signals tell you a machine stopped. The camera shows why, and covers what isn't wired: manual stations, older machines, material between scans and people. Agnify sends its events and counts to the systems you already use, so the camera fills the gaps rather than duplicating what you have.

Can a ceiling camera check assembly steps?

Not reliably. A ceiling camera across the hall can't see a bolt or a connector, so for step checks we suggest a camera mounted over that station. Floor cameras cover uptime, people and material flow.

We're looking at sensor-based monitoring. Why cameras?

Sensors count cycles well, and Agnify can use their signal. They can't tell you why a machine stopped, what happened in a changeover or whether the parts are good. The camera can, and keeps the clip.

Some of our machines are fully enclosed.

We watch what's visible (door, stack light, outfeed, operator, material) and fuse a machine signal, such as a PLC output or cycle sensor, for what happens inside.

Who decides which machine states we track?

You do. Your team picks the states and stop reasons that matter, and Agnify's engineers program them and test them on your footage before go-live.

Do you track individual workers?

No names or faces. People are tracked as anonymous positions to build heat maps, measure zone staffing and balance labor. People can be masked in stored clips, and we agree retention rules with you before anything goes live.

What does the digital twin need?

A floor plan and your camera positions. During setup we map each camera's view onto the plan; the more of the floor your cameras see, the more complete the twin.

Our trailers are floor-loaded by hand, not palletized. Does this still work?

Yes. Where product moves on a gravity or extendable conveyor, Agnify counts cartons as they pass a line you set, instead of counting pallets at the door. Door state, trailer dwell, fill level and the safety rules work the same way.

Does this replace our safety program?

No. It gives your team leading indicators, such as near misses and speeding, that are hard to collect by hand. Barriers, training and forklift controls still do the protecting.

How does it fit with our WMS and yard systems?

Load plans or orders from your WMS let Agnify confirm products against trailers, and door times, counts and incidents can flow back into the systems and reports you already use.

Do we need new cameras on the flare or pad?

Usually not. Most flares, pads and racks already have a fixed or PTZ camera. Where night visibility matters we suggest a thermal camera, and gas imaging only where the survey schedule pays for it.

Is video accepted by regulators?

In specific rules, yes: 40 CFR 63.670(h)(2) for refinery and chemical flares and 40 CFR 60.5417b(h) and 60.5417c(h) for OOOOb and OOOOc flares in the US, and Article 17(3) of the EU Methane Regulation with the competent authority's approval. Each sets conditions, such as a live feed to a continuously manned location, stamped frames every 15 seconds, camera placement and a daily operator check. We design the workflow around the rule that applies and validate it with you.

Does this replace our pilot thermocouple or fire watch?

No. Thermocouples, certified fire and gas detection, and people on watch stay in place. Agnify adds the visual record and alerts you when something is missing.

Our pads are remote with poor connectivity. Does it work?

Yes. The recorder buffers footage locally when the link drops, and for thin links we scope on-site processing that sends only events and short clips over cellular or satellite.

How do you handle worker privacy in the EU?

The workflow uses no facial identification or emotion inference, and reports by zone and shift rather than by named person. Whole-person blur can be enabled for video outputs, retention is set to the shortest period the purpose justifies, and EU-region deployment is scoped on request. We prepare privacy impact assessment and works council materials with you during scoping.

How fast are alerts?

Typically within minutes of the event. That suits flare records, permits and security. Agnify is not a safety interlock or an emergency shutdown.
